Alexander Yastrebov, Moscow, Russia
I am emerging artist and independent researcher. Until recent years, area of my interest lied mostly in the issues of history, philosophy and practices of surrealism. According to the surrealists (Andre Breton, Salvador Dali etc.), the surrealism was “anti-artistic”, since the artist usually uses his imagination and controls it.
At the same time, the surrealist’s aim is to liberate the deepest movements of mind, which is the true source of inspiration. In my art process I explore this hidden sources and use some surrealist techniques, particularly [lucid] dreaming and dream-like states.
