DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK

An interesting aspect of dreams is its interpretation. There always is a certain duality to it. What we feel during a dream and how we feel about it afterwards. For what it exists and what we understand it for. And even when they are very obvious, there is a certain underlining to it which is very individualistic and personal. Only you can understand its existence. And it’s never rigid. It can’t be narrowed down to one set of definitions or limited to the registered interpretation.

Attached are my artworks on the same theme.

  1. First is a peacock.  The clash is glorious between serenity and rage. There’s nothing more ferocious than a soul who’s had enough. I’m fond of it for the duality of it. It’s majestically pretty and also furiously out bursting. The blue is balancing a calm undertone but also highlighting the contrast. The green is soft like a spray mist and also melting like a dense fluid along with his other shades. The face that has shaken all the energies around has a throw that I haven’t been able to word yet.

  2. Second is Godess Laxmi- लक्ष्मी Laxmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity (both material and spiritual). She is the wife and active energy of God Vishnu. But to give the world so much, she needs to create so much. To share so much with the world, she needs to generate so much. She's usually seen posing but here I've shown her relaxing. Underwater. Where she stays. In her eco. Having her solo moment. Enjoying. Relaxing. Dreaming. Restoring.

  3. Third is Lord Krishna- he is like a dream. No one can ever understand what’s going on. He is most mysterious of all. Is he the god of love and romance, or the mastermind behind the greatest battle of all times. Is his tune sweet from the flute, or is it the war shankh that you associate with him? For me, he's an idol of various colors.

  4. Forth is lord Shiva- 10 minutes of meditation relaxes your brain as much as 4 hours of sleep. Shiva Shankar destroys the unimportant and leaves you with peace. There’s an old Shiva story among the sadhus that says the world tree can be compared to the Jata of Shiva, each strand emanates life from his head. By putting names that are often associated with him on each of his strand, I’m letting his energies flow. Breathing in colours of aura, say- Aum Namaha Shivaye!

  5. Fifth is Fibonacci- Galileo said “The book of Nature is written with the characters of geometry.” I believe that the harmony of the world is in progressing shapes and the concept of sequence. Things add up. Fibonacci is not a formula but a philosophy to me. A theory, that if you relate, applies everywhere!

  6. Sixth is Waves of wisdom. When you dream of being somewhere but you can’t go there, you bring it here.  Centre never stops kissing the shore. It waves in every direction and makes it to the edge to greet us. There is a certain comfort in hum of every tide. It soaks you wet in its energy washing away all the negativity. It infuses you. It defuses you. It pulls you and pushes you at the same time. It throws you and lets you float at the same time. It captivates you and that’s okay because then what you’re left with becomes a comprehensive guide to a more assorted living.

Painting analogies-

Words that make stories are always illustrated in eloquent fashion. But here, there’s no story telling. I simply like to share what I feel about each of my artwork. I like to share the backstory and diversity of inspirations that lead to a final outcome. My page is a visual-verbal cocktail.

MEDIUM-

I like to mix all sorts of mediums!

I’m particularly interested in the way they interact resulting in various textures. While grocery-shopping from my favorite stationary shop, I check out all the shelves. And then I pick types and kinds I don’t even understand. That’s the fun of it. It’s like an adventure for me.

Mixing textures, creating shades.

TOOLS-

I am my favourite tool.

I use my hands a lot. Like, literally dip them in paint and spread the shade. It makes me feel like being a part of the painting.

I don’t waste much time trying to find a perfect brush. I pick whatever is readily available. Paintbrush, toothbrush, knives, rollers, coaster (no, I don’t always get away with that).

But when it comes to tools- I’m all in!
